Senomyx, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNMX) will release its second quarter 2009 financial results on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 before the opening of the U.S. financial markets. The Company will also host a conference call with a live Internet broadcast that will provide a corporate update and a review of its second quarter results on the same day at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time (8:00 a.m. Pacific Time).
Appalachian Bancshares, Inc. (Nasdaq:APAB), holding company for Appalachian Community Bank, Appalachian Community Bank, F.S.B., and Appalachian Real Estate Holdings, Inc. reported consolidated total assets of $1.2 billion, at June 30, 2009, compared to $1.1 billion at June 30, 2008, an increase of 12.31%. Total loans net of unearned income were $856.9 million at June 30, 2009, a decrease of $12.7 million, or (1.46%), when compared with $869.6 million at June 30, 2008. Deposits grew to $1.0 billion at June 30, 2009, an increase of $142.1 million, or 15.74%, when compared to $903.1 million at June 30, 2008.

CNA Financial Corporation (NYSE: CNA) announced today that Bob Lindemann has been appointed to the position of president and chief operating officer of CNA’s Commercial Lines operations. In this role, Lindemann will be responsible for achieving profitable growth in CNA’s $3.5 billion commercial property and casualty business, which is now comprised of Business Insurance, serving smaller commercial accounts, and Commercial Insurance, serving middle market and risk management accounts. Lindemann will join CNA on August 4 and report to Tom Motamed, chairman and chief executive officer, CNA.
Micromet, Inc. (Nasdaq: MITI), a biopharmaceutical company developing novel, proprietary antibodies for the treatment of cancer, inflammation and autoimmune diseases, today announced the pricing of its public offering of 14,000,000 shares of its common stock at a public offering price of $5.00 per share. All of the shares are being offered by Micromet. The gross proceeds to Micromet, before expenses, from the sale of the shares are expected to be approximately $70 million. The closing of the offering is expected to take place on August 4, 2009. The underwriters have a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional 2,100,000 shares of common stock to cover over-allotments, if any. Piper Jaffray & Co. is acting as the sole book running manager with RBC Capital Markets and Merriman Curhan Ford as co-managers in this offering.
