Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) announced today a four-year sponsorship agreement with World Champion American skier Lindsey Vonn. Vonn, a two-time World Cup Overall champion, is preparing for her quest to win an “epic” five gold medals at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, a major business area of the Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE: LMT), today announced employment reductions aimed at improving its competitive posture. Space Systems will implement a broad-based workforce reduction of approximately 800 employees by year-end. The reductions represent about 4.5 percent of the overall workforce and will impact all levels and disciplines, including technical, managerial, and administrative positions primarily at the Denver, Colo., and Sunnyvale, Calif. facilities. The company also will offer a voluntary layoff plan designed to minimize the number of layoffs necessary.
ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) announced that it has received a favorable decision from the Israel Trademark Office in which oppositions to numerous ITT trademark registrations filed by Israeli company Ratfon Imports Ltd. have been summarily dismissed. This decision follows the March 2009 confirmation by the same office of eight oppositions filed by ITT, rejecting Ratfon’s applications for trademark registrations for “ITT”, and awarding legal fees to ITT. Collectively, these decisions constitute a complete legal victory in Israel for ITT in its disputes with Ratfon, which had attempted to secure ownership of Israeli trademark registrations for “ITT” as applied to certain consumer products and to cancel ITT’s existing trademark registrations in Israel. The decisions held the ITT mark to be “famous” and “well-known” in Israel and confirmed the strength of ITT’s global trademark portfolio and the worldwide recognition of the ITT name in connection with a wide variety of products and services.
Maloof Sports & Entertainment, the Palms Casino Resort and Ticketmaster, a Ticketmaster Entertainment, Inc., (Nasdaq:TKTM) operating business, today announced an agreement whereby all ARCO Arena and Palms Casino Resort event tickets will be exclusively sold via Ticketmaster. ARCO Arena in Sacramento is home to the National Basketball Association’s Sacramento Kings, the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Sacramento Monarchs and major concerts and events. The Palms Casino Resort is packed with live entertainment at The Lounge, an intimate cabaret venue, and The Pearl Concert Theater, Las Vegas’ premier concert theater.
The NASDAQ Stock Market(r) (Nasdaq:NDAQ) announced that trading was halted in Community Bancorp (Nasdaq:CBON) today at 1:33:27 p.m., Eastern Time, for “additional information requested” from the company at a last sale price of $0.36.
Wyeth (NYSE: WYE) (the “Company”) announced today that it has called for the full redemption of all of its outstanding Wyeth Floating Rate Convertible Senior Debentures due 2024 (the “Convertible Debentures”) on September 15, 2009. As of August 14, 2009, there was $22,664,000 in aggregate principal amount of Convertible Debentures outstanding.
