Biovail Corporation (NYSE:BVF) today announced that its subsidiary, Biovail Laboratories International SRL (BLS), has entered into an agreement with Santhera Pharmaceuticals (Switzerland) Ltd., a subsidiary of Santhera Pharmaceuticals Holding AG (SIX: SANN) to acquire the U.S. and Canadian rights to develop and commercialize Santhera’s JP-1730/fipamezole for the treatment of Dyskinesia in Parkinson’s Disease (DPD). JP-1730/ fipamezole is a first-in-class compound that, in a recent Phase IIb study, displayed the potential to reduce levodopa-induced dyskinesia.
Cell Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTIC) announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted and has filed for review the Company’s New Drug Application (NDA) for pixantrone as treatment for relapsed or refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). A Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA) date will be established by the FDA regarding the review of the pixantrone NDA by September 4th 2009.
Resorts World at Sentosa (RWS) is putting into place a comprehensive network built primarily with equipment from Cisco (NASDAQ: CSCO) that will serve as a platform for the resort’s integrated operations when it opens next year. Spanning 49 hectares and comprising six hotels, a casino, Universal Studios Singapore and three other large theme parks, in addition to a corporate office and data center, RWS requires a sophisticated technology and communications setup that will rely on the intelligence of the network to support high-levels of availability, security, and reliability.
Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC) today announced that samples of the LatticeECP3(TM)-150 FPGA, the highest-density device in its high-value, low-power ECP3 mid-range FPGA family, are now generally available. Samples have already been shipping to select customers since July of this year.
China Nepstar Chain Drugstore Ltd. (NYSE: NPD), the largest drugstore chain in China based on the number of directly operated stores, today announced the resignation of Mr. Jiannong Qian as the Company’s Co-Chief Executive Officer and a director of the Board, effective on August 20, 2009, upon the expiration of Mr. Qian’s employment agreement with the Company. Mr. Qian intends to pursue other opportunities. Upon Mr. Qian’s resignation, Mr. Ian Wade, who had been the Company’s Co-Chief Executive Officer since January 5, 2009, became the Chief Executive Officer of the Company.
Micrus Endovascular Corporation (Nasdaq: MEND) and privately held Flexible Stenting Solutions Inc. of Eatontown, N.J., today announced the signing of an exclusive agreement to jointly develop a flow diversion technology for neurovascular indications using both Micrus and Flexible Stenting Solutions technology, development capabilities and intellectual property. Flow diversion is a relatively new approach for treating large and giant aneurysms which represent approximately 20%-25% of treated intracranial aneurysms. Unlike microcoils that are placed in the aneurysm, flow diverters are stent-like devices placed in the parent vessel. They serve to divert blood flow away from the aneurysm, thus facilitating healing.
