PWRM, Power 3 Medical Products Inc., PWRM.OB
PWRM is a leading bio-technology company focused on the development of innovative diagnostic tests in the fields of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease).
PWRM applies proprietary methodologies to discover and identify protein biomarkers associated with diseases. Through these processes, PWRM has developed a portfolio of products including BC-SeraPro, a proteomic blood serum test for the early detection of breast cancer for which it has completed Phase I clinical trials, and NuroPro(R), a serum test for the detection of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS diseases, currently engaged in Phase II clinical trials.
These products are designed to analyze proteins and their mutations to assess an individual’s risk for developing disease later in life, a patient’s likelihood of responding to a particular drug, a patient’s risk of disease progression and disease recurrence, to measure a patient’s exposure to drug therapy, to ensure optimal dosing and reduced drug toxicity.
** PWRM reported that it has filed two provisional patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) – one on Alzheimer’s disease specific differential diagnosis in the clinical setting and the other on important differences in pathophysiology and therapeutic options for the genetically distinct groups of Alzheimer’s disease patients.
These two provisional patent applications, along with the additional provisional patent application recently filed by the principals of PWRM and others on the use of stem cell protein biomarkers to monitor stem cell therapy and three other recently filed provisional patent applications on Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis, disclose a vast amount of invaluable information crucial to the accurate diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
These provisional patent applications cover diagnosis, treatment options and therapy monitoring in neurodegenerative diseases. The combination of these disclosures forms a strong foundation for innovation in diagnosis and treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, and other diseases, through the genome and proteome of the patient, i.e., Personalized Regenerative Medicine (PRM).

** DSCO reported that the revalidation of its optimized fetal rabbit Biological Activity Test (BAT, an important quality control release and stability test) has been completed, having met all pre-specified acceptance criteria.
The optimization and successful revalidation of the BAT is a key milestone in Discovery Labs’ plans to resolve the sole remaining Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control (CMC) issue necessary to potentially gain U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) marketing approval for Surfaxin(R) (lucinactant) for the prevention of Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS) in premature infants. The safety and efficacy of Surfaxin for neonatal RDS has been previously demonstrated in a comprehensive Phase 3 clinical program.
If approved, Surfaxin would be the first synthetic, peptide-containing surfactant for commercial use in neonatal medicine.
